TORONTO– Mickey Lang won’t be suiting up with the Marlies anytime soon.
The 28-year-old, who signed an AHL contract with Toronto in the summer, was suspended by the club on Monday.
While it’s currently unclear what led to the suspension, a member within the organization cited “personal reasons” as to why.
This isn’t the first time the Hillsdale, NJ native has been disciplined by an organization.
Last season Lang, who at the time was leading the ECHL in goals, was suspended by the Fort Wayne Komets along with a teammate after not showing up for practice in late December. Two days later he was traded to the Orlando Solar Bears.
The centreman went on to win the league MVP award with Orlando.
Lang started this season with the Solar Bears before the Marlies recalled him on Nov. 11. He did not dress in any games with Toronto during his one-week on the roster.
Toronto has recalled centre Carson McMillan to replace Lang on the roster.
